Here are the steps to reformat your computer in case you cannot even open the operating system or your desktop.

Restart your computer and find the BIOS of your computer on the screen. BIOS is basic input and output of the system. This is where you set up how your computer should run. On your screen you should see BIOS in a blue screen with tabs like general, devices, exit, and etc. You can go to BIOS by simply pressing down the delete button repeatedly until you get in there.

  1. You are now in the BIOS section and you should see the booting set up. You can see the booting devices like CD-Rom, Network, Floppy Disk, and Hard disk.
  2. You may want to choose the CD-Rom as your first booting device to ensure that CD of the operating system is inserted in the CD-Rom. Then, you should select Hard disk as your second booting device. You can select any of the remaining booing devices for the third and fourth bootable devices as these normally are not so significant.
  3. Hit the save and exit button to do just that. Your computer will restart in a few minutes.
  4. When your computer is already open, you should see a message like boot to CD. You can hit any key to boot the CD and this will redirect your computer to the CD. You will then get a message if you want to create a partition or not. It is advisable not to create any partition as this could slow your computer down. Just delete any partition if you have an existing there.
  5. You now have to select which type of format you want to choose from the 4 options on the screen, namely, Quick format (FAT), Format (FAT), Quick Format (NTSF), and Format (NTSF). It is advisable to choose the Format (NTSF) and not the Quick Format (FAT) as it could corrupt some files of your computer.
  6. Now, your computer is processing to copy the files in your CD to install it in your computer. You should see windows that will ask you for some details normally it includes the date, your username, and etc. Just follow the instructions on your screen.
  7. Be patient to see the message that the installation was successfully completed. Once you get there, your computer will automatically restart.
  8. After doing all these and your computer restarted successfully, you now have an access to your computer again. You computer is now reformatted without need of a technician.
