How to Make Windows XP, Vista, 7 Run Faster Without Adding RAM

Simple tips that let you make computer faster.

By following certain steps people can certainly boost the performance of their PC by some notch. This can help in better output from your machine and a smooth running of computer programs if you follow the undermentioned steps religiously. Though all the Windows OS have had a lot to offer to people, it is a well known fact that it tends to be on the slower side (especially Vista) when compared to other OS. Due to this, the basic processes that boost your Windows become even more crucial for optimal performance. It does not require a geek to make the machine faster, anyone with basic understanding can do the under mentioned tasks with the click of a button.

Instructions

Step 1: Go to start menu. Choose Run option and type %temp%. A folder window will pop out. Delete all files listed in the folder. Do this after each browser session.

Step 2: Go to start menu. Choose control panel option. Click on add/remove programs. Delete all unnecessary programs on the list by clicking on the button ‘Remove’ place alongside the name of program. (Unnecessary programs are shown when you select a program from the given list. As you click on any program of the list, you will see at the right hand side corner, a clear cut mention by control panel regarding the usage of that particular program)

Step 3: Run fewer programs at the same time. This will help in better performance of your current Ram.

Step 4: Click on My computer menu on your desktop. Right click on C: and choose properties. At the bottom right hand corner you will see option of Disk cleanup. Click on this option and click on NEXT in the folder that pops out.

Step 5: Again go to properties menu of C: as mentioned above. Click on tools option. Select the option that reads ‘Defragment’. A new window will pop up with the list of drives on your computer. Select one drive from the list. Click on Defragment button placed on the lower end of the folder. Wait till the defragment procedure gets over. Repeat the same with all drives on your PC.

Step 6: You can also use the option of artificial RAM if you are running on a Vista or Windows 7. All you have to do is run a small program called 'Readyboot' that draws additional RAM from a USB 2.0 device. You can read about that over here

Tips

Carry out the above mentioned procedure after regular intervals of time.

Warning

Use disk clean up option with caution. Make sure you want to delete the files that you don’t require. If you wish to keep certain files just uncheck the check box placed against the name of the file in Disk cleanup window.

Oh nice. I have also made my own research about making Windows 7 faster without more Ram. First I wanted to by a SSD harddisk to get more speed.

After my little research, I came to the conclusion that you dont need it all.

Its all about the settings in Windows 7: see my webpage.
